Driver Jobs Vacancy in Canada. The Ottawa Public Library (OPL) provides accessible and innovative library and information services that meet the unique needs of diverse communities throughout the City of Ottawa through a variety of means and reflect a citizen-centered approach.
Answerable for driving library conveyance vehicles, stacking, moving, and dumping materials, and arranging materials into suitable holders. Performs vehicle maintenance duties and other related duties to make both scheduled and unscheduled deliveries as assigned.
Work is performed within the policies and framework of the Library’s corporate culture as embodied in the Mission Statement, Core Values, Customer Experience Guidelines, and the Canadian Library Association Position Statement on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion, with particular Focus will be placed on providing customer service.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 10
Minimum of one year of relevant driving experience.
QUALIFICATIONS AND LICENSE
Valid Ontario Unrestricted Grade G driver’s license (or equivalent provincial license) with no more than 6 demerit points
Knowledge
- A thorough knowledge of the City of Ottawa’s streets and road traffic laws.
- Proper methods of lifting, loading and stacking heavy objects.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety laws, including worker rights and obligations.
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
- Classify and organize library collections according to prescribed systems and procedures.
- Be tactful, thoughtful, and maintain confidentiality.
- Customer service orientation, including tact, discretion, and confidentiality
- Flexibility, ability to adjust priorities.
- Capacity to work successfully as a colleague.
- Strong commitment to quality customer service.
- Should extend a positive and expert picture consistently.
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally more than 50 lbs. To routinely move over 2,000 lbs. of materials.
