Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other members of the management team to meet production and shipping goals and maintain safe operations.
  • Analyze packing house operations, identify areas for improvement, and implement action plans for improvement.
  • Develop performance metrics and goals aligned with overall business objectives
  • Set up SIMS computer to monitor Aurora system during packing, make adjustments as needed, and resolve over/under weight cases as needed.
  • Forecast packaging inventory and other supply requirements and communicate supply requirements, variances, and shortages to appropriate parties.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and procedures to meet production goals
  • Work with the Food Safety team to ensure compliance with all laws and organizational policies and procedures
  • Work with the Sanitation Team to ensure that sanitation schedules are developed and maintained in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Take an interest as an individual from the Wellbeing and Security Board
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Supervise and ensure efficient, clean, organized and safe setup of the production line:

  • Supervise, mentor and train production line employees
  • Assign employees to work stations to meet production goals
  • Coordinate line changes to accommodate changes in producers and sales orders
  • Ensure equipment is inspected and maintained
  • Identify, communicate, troubleshoot, and/or escalate production issues to appropriate management members for resolution

  • Safely and responsibly operate propane and electric forklifts inside and outside the facility to load and unload trucks, weigh and stack fruit boxes, and rotate product to maintain freshness standards.
  • Perform basic daily maintenance on propane and electric forklifts.
  • Ensure pre-shift forklift equipment checklist is completed.
  • Use software programs to record incoming and outgoing fruit bins and pallets and maintain accurate incoming and outgoing information.
  • Ensure that bin hydrocoolers are operated safely, temperature recorders are used accurately, and quality specifications are maintained.
  • Report quality, maintenance, and safety issues to the Manager or Supervisor.

  • Safely and efficiently stack/palletize packed products using straps, band clips, tape, corner boards, and other equipment to ensure that packed products arrive at their destination in optimal condition.
  • Accurately tag palletized products

  • Ensure stacking materials (straps, banding clips, tape, corner boards, etc.) are available in coolers as needed
