Our client is a family farm located in the beautiful Hepburn Shire, 5 minutes to Creswick and 15 minutes to Daylesford. They raise sheep, cattle and crops for prime lamb on over 1,300 hectares. We are looking for a full time Livestock Supervisor to join our team. In this highly autonomous role, you will be hands-on while managing the day-to-day operations of the livestock department of the business.

Description

Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Assistant Manager will assist in the day-to-day management of the farm and its performance, including operations management, employee management, leadership, financial management, and occupational health and safety. There is always a “hands-on” aspect to this position, such as operating and maintaining machinery and infrastructure.

To be successful in this role, you will need both a current and valid driver’s license. In addition, a heavy truck license, ChemCert certificate, and first aid certificate would be ideal. Nonetheless, our client will put resources into preparing to acquire these. 

Skills and experience required for this position include:

  • Computer literacy to use financial and farm management software systems
  • Mechanical aptitude, ability to operate and maintain large crop plant and equipment
  • Safe working, adoption of new practices, further skill Willingness to learn to further develop and work in a team environment
  • Experience or willingness to be involved in operational decision making and planning
